The Free Press
The Free Press is a new media company founded by Bari Weiss in 2021, built on the journalistic ideals of honesty, doggedness, and fierce independence. Launched as a newsletter called Common Sense in 2021, it was rebranded to The Free Press in 2022.
The Free Press is one of the largest and fastest-growing media companies today, with more than 1.5 million subscribers. In October 2025, The Free Press was acquired by Paramount, a Skydance Corporation, with Weiss additionally serving as the editor-in-chief of CBS News.
The Free Press is home to multiple podcasts, including Conversations with Coleman Hughes, Second Thought, a look at pop culture hosted by Suzy Weiss and comedian Dan Ahdoot, and the investigative series The Free Press Investigates. The Free Press has been a leader in creating event series built around newsmakers participating in thoughtful conversations, such as Things That Matter, which has tackled issues ranging from faith to Gen Z.
Beyond journalism, The Free Press launched a series of events that bring people together for meaningful, compassionate conversations in a digital forum, at carefully curated dinner parties around the country, and on retreats and excursions.
